VOIP Equipment and Internet Connection Requirements

Essentially you need 3 things to use VOIP effectively. One, you probably already have, another one is typically FREE!

  1. You will need a high-speed internet connection.- With the low cost of high-speed internet access it is quickly becoming the norm. You probably already have high-speed internet, but if not, now is a great time to get on board. Not only will the web be a much more pleasant place but you could save a fortune on your phone calls with VOIP!
  2. You will need a VOIP adaptor of some sort that allows you to turn data into voice.- The good news is that most Voice Over IP providers GIVE you the necessary equipment for FREE when you sign up for VOIP service! Even if you choose a provider that doesn’t include the equipment you can usually buy it for under $100.
  3. You will, of course, need to purchase a VOIP package from one of the many popular VOIP access providers.- Costs and quality will vary so be sure to choose a VOIP provider that meets all of your needs. Some providers charge by the minute and some have bundle packages that include different services. We recommend you go with one of the major VOIP providers and get an unlimited calling package. These packages typically start at less than $30 a month for home use.
